In order to create Northern Lights x Big Bud Ryder each of these mother plants was first crossed with a top-quality ruderalis and the results subsequently back-crossed for four generations. Rigorous selection was applied during this process to end up with this high quality auto-flowering cannabis strain. Northern Lights x Big Bud Ryder can grow to a height of 170 cm. outdoors or up to 130 cm. indoors dependant on pot size. It grows a lot of equal-sized side-branches on which large, dense buds develop. It is ready to harvest in 65 - 70 days from germination to full maturity. Indoor yields are between 450 - 600 gr/m2 while outdoors each plant can produce up to 70 gr. each. Towards the end of flowering the buds of this strain will turn attractive shades of dark blue and purple especially when temperatures fall at night. As with all auto-flowering strains it is recommended to provide 20 hours of light per 24 to produce maximum yields. Outdoor growers are encouraged to start seedlings off indoors before planting out at the end of April or early May and then to begin a second crop a couple of weeks before the first is ready in order to be able to grow two crops per season to full maturity. This is a hardy plant with very good resistance to mould, plant pests and drought. The fat dried buds have an appetising aroma and flavour of sweet pineapple and citrus fruits. THC production has been measured at a whopping 22% and the effect is very medicinal being calming, physically relaxing and thought to be useful to provide relief from pain, insomnia and stress.
