Durban

Durban is well-known throughout the cannabis smoking world as the most famous strain to have come out of Africa. It is perhaps better known as Durban Poison and has reached all four corners of the globe from what is Africa's biggest port. Durban is a robust outdoor sativa strain known for its fast-flowering and good yields. Durban is a short plant that hails from a sub-tropical area but which nonetheless flowers with only a small variation in equatorial 12/12 hours of light and darkness. It has been successfully upgraded by Sensi to not only retain all of its African qualities but also to prosper in the often very cool, damp summers experienced in northern Europe. In order to give plants the very best start it is recommended to start them off indoors in March (northern hemisphere) before transplanting outdoors during May. Plants growing directly in the ground can attain heights of 250 cm. although if sown outdoors without an early start height is more likely to be restricted to 150 cm. Unlike tropical sativas the buds from Durban plants are denser and harder and the top half of its branches turn into solid colas as the flowering clusters "run" together filling in the gaps between inter-nodes. Resin production is very good especially so from an outdoor strain that flourishes in cooler climates. The scent and flavour is of sweet citrus with notes of aniseed. Its effect combines a sativa high with a strong body stone but one that does not become sedative and sporific unlike many indica strains. Durban is both uplifting as well as soothing.
