Big Bud

Big Bud is one of the most important breeding strains which dates back to the 1980s. It is a cross of Afghani and Skunk and is 85% indica in genetic composition. As its name suggests it produces very large buds which are covered in silver/white trichomes. Growers can expect great yields in a relatively short flowering time. Big Bud is most suitable for indoor cultivation although outdoor grows are also very successful in warmer climates. Indoors flowering takes anywhere between 50 - 65 days with yields of 600 - 700 gr/m2. The size, density and weight of its buds are all high and therefore it is recommended to provide a support structure lest the branches should snap under the weight. Outdoors in the northern hemisphere harvest time will be either at the end of September or through to early October. Each outdoor plant has the potential to yield as much as 1000 gr. The overall plant is big, not just the buds, and this strain can reach 200 cm. or more with sufficient root space. Foliage is quite sparse making trimming the buds a simple task. This is a smooth-smoking indica which has an earthy taste with grape notes. THC levels fall between 16 - 19%, with low CBD of 0.43%, and the effect is more of a relaxing body stone. It is medicinally recommended for anxiety, insomnia and to improve appetite.
